  • Get wild with Special Effects Tie-Dye Sidewalk Chalk. This set gets kids outside for imaginative fun. Children can write attention-grabbing messages and mind-blowing drawings that pop. They can also bring a crazy, tie-dye twist to traditional chalk games, including hopscotch, tic-tac-toe, and four square.

    • Crayola Sidewalk Chalk is a molded chalk made of Plaster of Paris and color pigments. Although it is designed to be used on sidewalks and driveways, the chalk contains colorants, which may stain clothing and other household surfaces. If the chalk is used on a newly poured sidewalk or driveway, there is a possibility that the open surface pores in the concrete could absorb the colors.

We suggest testing the Crayola Sidewalk Chalk in an inconspicuous area and then try washing it away with water. In most cases, the chalk markings wash away with the first rainfall if it is used on a paved or poured surface that is more than two years old.

Crayola offers stain removal suggestions as a service to consumers. You can find this information by going to http://www.crayola.com/canwehelp/staintips/stain.cfm.

Please bear in mind, all the stain removal suggestions we offer have been tested in our laboratory but we are unable to guarantee the results. We recommend you test our suggestion in an inconspicuous area first.

    • Crayola® manufactures two types of chalk, extruded and molded.

Extruded chalk, such as Crayola Anti-Dust® White Chalk, primarily contains calcium carbonate. Molded chalk, such as Crayola Children's Chalk (available in white or colored), is a softer chalk, and is not dustless.  This type of chalk is recommended for children's chalkboards as well as construction paper, cardboard boxes and paper bags.

Crayola Sidewalk Chalk is a molded chalk that is not intended for use on chalkboard surfaces. It does not include calcium carbonate. This product contains plaster of paris which has a gritty texture and may scratch your chalkboard.

    • The basic ingredients contained in Crayola® Crayons are paraffin wax and color pigment. These ingredients are the same for all Crayola Crayon colors, with some modifications in special effects crayons.

Crayola Crayons begin to melt at around 105° Fahrenheit and have a melting point between 120° - 147° Fahrenheit. The melting point is the same for all regular Crayola Crayons; however, the density and amount of pigment included in different crayons will result in varying thickness or viscosity of the mixture.

    • Crayola® Crayons are made in 148 unique colors, but don’t stop counting there! Some colors are offered in special effects, further expanding our color selection with specialty crayons like glitter, pearl, confetti, metallic, bold & bright, and more! • Crayola® Crayons are made using primarily paraffin wax and color pigment. While the basic ingredients remain consistent across all colors, variations may occur in special effects crayons.

Our crayons are crafted through a process that involves melting paraffin wax and blending it with color pigments. This mixture is then poured into molding machines where it solidifies in four to seven minutes.
