What makes Color Wonder different from Washable Markers and Paints?

      • In 1993 we conducted a poll to find out the most popular colors in America. Blue was voted the most popular CRAYOLA Crayon color. Rounding the top ten were red, violet, green, carnation pink, black, turquoise blue, blue green, periwinkle and magenta.

In 2000, we did another Crayola Color Census, and blue again reigns as number one! Six other shades of blue finished in the Top 10 including cerulean, midnight blue, aquamarine, periwinkle, denim and blizzard blue.  The other colors rounding out the list included purple heart, caribbean green and cerise.

        Troubleshooting Tips

        • Your device must have a rear facing camera in order to properly scan a coloring page.
        • This app only works with Crayola Color Alive Action Coloring Pages.
        • An internet connection is required to use all of the features in this app.
        • If you are using a public or business internet connection, security settings may prevent the app from functioning properly.
        • If you use a device with low memory (RAM), the app may close unexpectedly.
        • If you use a device with a single-core processor, the app will perform slowly.
        • If the Crayola Color Alive appears to be running slow, trying closing out apps that are running in the background on your device.

        Tips for Coloring Success

        • Using a lot of dark colors, especially close together on the page, may make character recognition difficult.
        • Character recognition works best if backgrounds are lighter in color, or are not colored in at all.
        • Color recognition works best if there aren’t too many scribbles or interference with the character outlines.

        Tips for Scanning Success

        • The app works best in a well-lit area.
        • Hold your device parallel to the colored page when scanning.
        • Try and hold your device steady during page scanning.
        • Make sure you can see the entire coloring page on your device’s screen.
        • Quick movements may cause the character to disappear. If this happens, tap the refresh button, or bring the page into your view screen and tap the 4D button again.
        • If you use a device with low quality cameras without auto-focus, you may experience difficulty scanning coloring pages.

Having Problems?  The following FAQs may help:

        • I launch the app, but it appears stuck on the logo screen.
          • Low memory may be affecting the app’s performance.
          • Sometimes it takes a while for the app to load and open up.
          • Wait a few minutes and if nothing appears on screen.
          • Try closing any open apps and then re-launching Crayola Color Alive.
        • I scanned my coloring page, but don’t see the 4D buttons.
          • Make sure the full page is visible on the screen of your device.
          • Move your device closer or further away from the page and let the camera re-focus each time.
          • If that doesn’t work, try moving to a well-lit area to help the camera better see the details on the page.
          • If the 4D buttons still do not appear, check to make sure that your internet connection is working.
            • Note: This feature requires an active internet connection to work properly.
        • I scanned my coloring page, and the character I see on screen is popping in and out.
          • Quick movements may cause the character to disappear. If this happens, tap the refresh button, or bring the page into your view screen and tap the 4D button again.
          • You might have a memory issue that’s affecting the app performance.
          • Try closing any open apps and then re-launching Crayola Color Alive.
        • I can’t get the Special Effect color to work.  Follow these steps:
        1. Open the camera on your device.
        2. Lay your special effect crayon/marker on a flat surface with the names of all three colors facing up.
        3. Bring your device close to the crayon/marker so that it fills most of the screen.
        4. If the image seems blurry, you may be too close, try moving your device away slowly to allow the camera to re-focus.
        5. If the message still does not pop up, check to make sure your internet connection is working.
        • Note: for Crayola Color Alive app versions 1.3 and higher, scanning the special effect color is no longer necessary. All special effects colors are unlocked upon starting the app.

      • Crayola manufactures many different Crayola Crayon assortments. The standard color wheel color assortment often requested by teachers can be found in the 8, 24 and 32 count Crayola box, product #52-0008, 0024, 0032. These items are generally sold through teacher supply stores, educational retailers and distributors.

To locate a teacher/educational supply store near you, please check your local yellow pages under “school supplies.” The assortment and packaging on educational crayon products differs from packages found in regular retails stores. The most distinguishing factor is that it does not have a hang tab as mass merchandise products would.
